Customer requests contact management database

We just completed a new web site update for property management repair requests for an existing customer's site, www.russdarby.com

The customer required a contact form for rental repair requests that would notify the web site owner of the request by email with a confirmation email to the user. In addition to the email notification the form data needed to be saved in a database to allow confirmation of the request and the ability to view, edit or delete the contact record.

Static vs Dynamic Database driven Drop Down Menus

When designing databases, tables and forms always consider the potential for future expansion and usability.

Let's say you have a form that has a drop down menu so a user can select an item from the list. The form could be designed with a fixed drop down menu where the items are added directly in the forms selection menu on the page. In some cases this may be the optimum choice if the items will not need updating in the future, such as Yes or No selections.

Flash video on the internet

We're in the process of converting a .wmv format movie for a client, it's about 10 minutes long with audio. The .wmv file size is 72 M/Bytes. We used the Camtasia converter to convert the movie from a .wmv to a .avi format as Camtasia Producer cannot work with .wmv formats. Once converted to .avi, we can use Camtasia Producer to extract the audio from the video file for any needed volume adjustments. We increased the audio volume by 25%. Once done with the audio file we can produce the movie.
